A family chauffeur service gives you one professional driver and one vehicle for your whole outing, booked in advance, with the pickup time, the stops and the child seats settled before you leave home. For airport runs, concerts, weddings, Niagara day trips or a school-break schedule, it replaces the guesswork of rideshare surge, car-seat juggling and parking with a single point of contact. This guide explains what is included, when it makes sense, what to confirm and what the extras cost with Nero Limo.
TL;DR
- A family chauffeur service is a pre-booked private car and professional driver for your group, for airport transfers, events, day trips or by the hour.
- Tell us the number of children and their ages when you book, so the right seat is in the car before you step in. Our child / booster seat fee is $20.
- Our published airport transfer rates run from $83 to $1,670 depending on the route. An extra stop is $25 and the Pearson Airport fee is $17.25.
- Flight monitoring, meet and greet and a driver who waits mean a late landing or a tired child doesn’t derail your day.
- Confirm pickup point, waiting time, luggage and cancellation terms in writing before the day.

What a family chauffeur service actually includes
The word “chauffeur” can sound like something reserved for executives. In practice, the service is simpler: you book a vehicle with a professional driver who is yours for the trip. The driver knows where you are going, when, and who is travelling.
For families, the useful parts are the ones that remove small frictions:
- A fixed plan. Pickup address, time, destination and any stops are agreed ahead, not negotiated at the kerb.
- Flight monitoring. On airport trips we track the flight, so the driver adjusts to the real arrival time instead of the scheduled one.
- Meet and greet. The driver is there when you come out with the luggage and the children, not circling a pickup zone.
- Late-model vehicles. Sedans, SUVs and Sprinter vans, chosen for the size of your group and your luggage.
- Child and booster seats on request. Arranged in advance so you don’t have to carry your own through the terminal.
- Real-time communication. If your plans shift, you reach a person who can change the plan.
This is how we work for corporate and VIP clients every day, and families get the same hands-on planning. Our professional chauffeur service page describes what you can expect from the driver side.
How it differs from a taxi or rideshare
A taxi or rideshare is built around a single trip, assigned minutes before it starts. You don’t choose the driver, you can’t count on a car seat, and you can’t plan around a vehicle size. A chauffeur booking works the other way round: the vehicle and driver are confirmed first, then the trip is built around your family.
| Taxi or rideshare | Family chauffeur service | |
|---|---|---|
| Booking | On demand, minutes before | Pre-booked, confirmed in advance |
| Child seat | Usually bring your own | Request it when you book |
| Flight delays | You re-order the ride | Driver tracks the flight |
| Multiple stops | Each leg handled separately | Planned into one itinerary |
| Waiting | Meter or re-request | Agreed with you in advance |
| Group size | Standard car | Sedan, SUV or Sprinter van |
When hiring a chauffeur makes sense for a family
Not every errand needs a chauffeur. These are the situations where families tell us it earns its place.
Airport trips with children and luggage
A family of four with two suitcases each, a stroller and a booster seat is a lot to move. Add an early-morning departure or a red-eye arrival, and a pre-booked driver who tracks your flight and meets you inside makes the start or end of a trip calmer. We cover this in detail on our family airport limo service page, and our airport travel tips page helps you plan timing.
Concerts, games and big events
Toronto event nights mean road closures, packed parking and long walks with tired kids. A driver who drops you close to the venue and is waiting at the agreed time after the show spares you the scramble. We handle transportation for large events in the city, and our event and venue transportation page shows how it works for groups.
Day trips to Niagara and Southern Ontario
Families visiting Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Hamilton, Burlington or Oakville often want the parents to relax instead of drive. With a chauffeur, the adults can enjoy the day, the kids can nap and nobody is searching for a parking spot. For city-to-city runs, see our intercity transportation service.
Special occasions and visiting relatives
Weddings, anniversaries, graduations and a grandparent landing from overseas all work well with a single car and driver, because everyone arrives together and on time.
Several stops in one day
School event, lunch, a family photo session, back home. If your day has more than two stops, hourly booking is usually easier than separate point-to-point trips. Our hourly car service keeps the car and driver with you on your schedule.
Child seats and safety: what to confirm
This is the question families ask first, and it deserves a clear answer.
In Ontario, children must be secured in the stage of restraint that suits their weight and height. According to a summary of Ontario’s car seat rules, infants under 9 kg ride rear-facing, children from 9 to under 18 kg use a forward- or rear-facing restraint, and children under 8 who weigh 18 to under 36 kg and are under 145 cm use a booster. The same summary notes a fine and demerit points for improperly restrained children. The driver is the person held responsible, so seat choice is not something to leave to the last minute.
For your booking, that means:
- Give us each child’s age and weight when you book. That tells us which seat type you need.
- Request the seat in advance. Our child / booster seat fee is $20, listed on our rates page.
- If your child uses a specific seat you prefer, tell us so the driver can plan for installing it.
- Mention the number of passengers and bags. Seats take room, and the vehicle should be sized with them in mind.
- Ask for the child to ride in the back. The back seat is where your family seat arrangement is planned.
You can also look at the official Ontario information on child car seats for the current wording of the rules; it is the page to check for any change.
Vehicle space
A sedan suits two adults and one or two children with modest luggage. An SUV fits larger families and more bags. For three or more children, grandparents joining, or a group of relatives, a Sprinter van is the comfortable choice. Count the people, count the bags, then add the seats. If you are unsure, tell us and we will recommend the vehicle.
Chauffeur professionalism
Families want to know who is driving their children. Our chauffeurs are professionals who manage clients from corporate executives to international delegations, and the same standard applies to a family airport run. If you want to know more about what a good service looks like, our guide on what to expect from a professional chauffeur service walks through it.
How booking works: hourly versus point to point
Point-to-point
You give a pickup and a destination, and the price depends on the route. Airport transfers are the most common example. Our airport transfer rates range from $83 to $1,670 depending on where you are travelling, as published on our rates page. The low end reflects short local routes, and the high end reflects long-distance trips.
Hourly (as directed)
You book the car and driver for a block of time, and decide the route as the day goes on. It suits shopping, a string of visits, a birthday outing or a wedding weekend. The driver waits, so you don’t have to look for a ride at each stop. We do not publish a flat hourly price, so ask for a quote based on your date, vehicle and hours.
Which one should you choose?
| Your plan | Better fit |
|---|---|
| Home to airport, or airport to home | Point-to-point |
| One destination and one return | Point-to-point |
| Three or more stops | Hourly |
| Unknown timing, such as a kids’ event | Hourly |
| Day trip to Niagara with several stops | Hourly or intercity, depending on the plan |
What it costs and what can add to the price
Families often ask what the total will be. We don’t publish a single family price because it depends on the route, vehicle and time. What we do publish is the structure:
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Airport transfer service | $83 to $1,670 depending on route |
| Extra stop | $25 |
| Child / booster seat | $20 |
| Pearson Airport fee | $17.25 |
So a family transfer from Toronto Pearson with one extra stop and a booster seat would add $25 and $20 to the base fare, plus the Pearson airport fee of $17.25. Hourly bookings, events and intercity trips are quoted individually, so send us your date, the number of passengers and the plan.
Two habits keep the total predictable. Put every stop in the booking, because a planned stop is easier to price than an improvised one. And give the correct flight number, so we can track the arrival rather than guess.
Pickup, waiting time, cancellations and changes
Before the day, confirm these in writing:
- Exact pickup point. For airports, the terminal and door. For hotels, the entrance. For homes, any gate or access instruction.
- Waiting time. How long the driver waits at the airport after landing, and how long at a venue.
- Luggage and equipment. Strollers, car seats you are bringing, sports gear, instruments.
- Cancellation terms. What applies if plans change, and until when.
- Changes on the day. Who to call. Our team handles last-minute schedule changes in real time, so a delayed dinner or an extra stop doesn’t turn into a problem.
- Contact on arrival. The driver’s phone number, shared before the trip.
If your itinerary is complex, such as cousins arriving on two flights, we can plan several pickups into one schedule. Our airport pickup and drop-off guides explain how pickups work at the main airports.
Our perspective
Families don’t need luxury for its own sake. They need the trip to go as planned when there are children, bags and a clock involved.
We run transportation for corporate roadshows and major events, which means we plan around flights, timing and last-minute changes every day. A family’s day is the same problem at a smaller scale, and the same discipline applies: we confirm the details first, track the flight, send a driver who is ready, and stay reachable if anything shifts.
That is why we ask a few more questions at booking than a rideshare app does. How old are the children? How many bags? Is there a stop on the way? A few minutes of planning replaces an hour of stress on the day.

FAQ
Is a family chauffeur service worth it for just an airport transfer?
It often is when you have children, several bags or an early or late flight. The driver tracks your flight, meets you and has the child seat ready, so you skip the pickup-zone wait and the seat juggling. For a single adult with one bag, it is less of a difference.
Can I get a child or booster seat?
Yes. Tell us the ages and weights of your children when you book, and we will arrange the seat. The child / booster seat fee is $20, as listed on our rates page.
What vehicle should a family of five choose?
That depends on luggage and the ages of the children, since car seats take space. An SUV works for many families of four or five with moderate luggage. If you are travelling with a lot of bags or extra relatives, a Sprinter van is more comfortable. Tell us the numbers and we will advise.
Can I add stops, like a lunch or a pharmacy?
Yes. Each extra stop is $25 on a transfer, so it is best to include them in your booking. If you expect several stops or an open schedule, hourly service is usually simpler.
Do you serve day trips outside Toronto?
Yes. We serve Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake and other parts of Southern Ontario, and can arrange intercity trips. Send your date and route for a quote.
